I'm Lovin It

This ridiculous story made my night. Earlier this week, Latreasa Goodman, age 27 made multiple angry calls to 911. It wasn’t because someone broke into her house, it wasn’t because she witnessed a crime, and it certainly wasn’t because she was in an accident of some kind. Then what sort of terrible incident would cause this woman to repeatedly call 911? The answer to this question is her local McDonald’s ran out of McNuggets. (Of course!)

(To hear her 911 calls, click here)

Goodman ordered a ten piece Chicken McNugget meal. The cashier soon told her that they had run out of McNuggets and she would not be offered a refund. The cashier suggested she choose something else off the menu of equal value to the McNuggets, and offered the restaurant's cheeseburger called the McDouble. This was not what Latreasa Goodman wanted to hear.

"This is an emergency. If I would have known they didn't have McNuggets, I wouldn't have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don't want one, She's trying to force me to eat something off the menu and I don't want it," Goodman stated.

During her first call to 911 Goodman spoke to a female dispatcher who had a surprising amount of patience and listened to her complain. After Goodman was done, the dispatcher informed her that she was “sending someone” to the Mickey D’s. Apparently, “Help” did not come soon enough, and she called 911 back. The second dispatcher told her he was aware of her situation, and help had been sent and was on the way. Goodman made one final phone call to 911 after her fist two totaling THREE emergency phone calls to 911 about McNuggets. Wow.

Police say Goodman was cited on a misuse of 911 charge, but it doesn’t all end badly for Latreasa Goodman . . . A McDonald's spokesman said Goodman should have been given a refund, and she's being sent a gift card for a free meal. Hopefully that gift card covers a ten piece Chicken McNugget meal.

  1. Okay, honestly, that is pathetic almost. I can see her getting upset for them not offering a refund, but to call 911 because of a depletion of McNuggets is almost stupid. I can see how she got a citation.
But I don't think that was the focus, right? I imagine the main idea of this is to teach us the error of our ways. People are greedy and lazy and take advantage of others. I can see this being a real problem in today's society. It is like a cashier trying to rip off a blind man and people just stand there and watch.
I mean, its not like our country is suddenly going to run out of chicken McNuggets. And I know the whole thing wasn't to point out that people tend to eat out too much. Right? Am I right?

  2. Oh my g*, how ridiculous is this woman! It almost makes me sick to hear what some people do. I heard one guy had a similar incident and he phoned 911 for Taco Bell being to slow on their order! (Shaking Head!!) Its just so stupid. I can't believe this woman would actually do this. I really hate people who pull stuff like this. It almost embarrasses me hearing stories like this in the United States, yet I live here. But, there are far more better things happening politically so I can smile at that! Interesting blog this week. Stories like this really can get people buzzing. I wonder if this woman will have charges pressed against her for the faulty call?

  3. Uh-wow-that's all I can say. That's crazy. I, too, would get upset if a McD worker didn't give me a refund, but I definitely wouldn't call 911 over it! It makes me wonder what she was going for when she called. Was she just trying to get McD in trouble? Or was she that obsessed with fried processed chicken product?! It's good to hear that she got a citation, though. Maybe people will leave 911 for EMERGENCIES!

    Interesting post!!

  4. This one takes the cake! Or McNugget as it were. It’s just another case of people abusing a system created to help. And then there is the fleecing of tax payers hard earned dollars by wasting the 911 operator’s time. She’s lucky her calls did not interfere with a serious situation. She would have been charge with something more criminal than she was. I hope I’m never so desperate that I would consider doing such a thing. Will people ever realize that all these services we receive from restaurants and the like are privileges, not rights.

  5. All I can do is shake my head. I wonder how many times she has called 911 in the past. It's really too bad when people think something like their McDonald's not having McNuggets is that important. Like "octomom" I think this story screams of selfishness. Not considering what other emergencies might be happening at the same time, she decided that her "emergency" warranted a 911 call. The story is entertaining in a way if you can look past the selfishness.

  6. Sam,
This story is ridiculous! Why would this woman think this is an emergency? Her phone call could have cost someone their life. If someone is tying up the 911 line with useless complaints, people that are really in trouble might not be able to get through. In Manitoba our government decided to implement something new this year and created a new number (although I’m not sure what it is) that’s purpose is to take complain calls. Calls like this or about problems with the streets, etc. should be reported to this number. The point of the new number is to free up 911 for real emergencies. I think it’s a good idea, but it will take some time for people to get used to.

  7. Great blog! When I first listened to the 911 call, my reaction was a calm, craziest thing I ever heard in my life, type of thing. I could not believe that this call was real, that someone would actually call 911 for that. Plus, if this was an actual call, I can’t believe they wouldn’t just give her a refund. This really was ridiculous and what a waste of dispatcher’s and police’s time.
